The State of Louisiana regulates materials used to decrease the soil acidity during agricultural production sold or offered for sale in Louisiana. Below is the link to the state law concerning agricultural liming materials.
 
Apiary Agricultural & Environmental Sciences - Horticulture and Quarantine Programs
The purpose of apiary programs is to prevent the introduction and spread of infectious diseases and pests of honey bees. This is accomplished through hive registration, surveys, inspections, sampling, and control of pests of honey bees. An Africanized Honey Bee detection program is in place in all deep water ports in the state and along the Louisiana-Texas border. Currently, oversight is being provided for the importation of Russian bees.
 
Boll Weevil Eradication Commission Agricultural & Environmental Sciences - Horticulture and Quarantine Programs
In 1992 the Boll Weevil Eradication Law (R.S. 3:1601-1617) was established, authorizing the creation of the Boll Weevil Eradication Commission and clearing the way for a grower referendum to fund the Boll Weevil Eradication Program. The Commission is charged with oversight of the Eradication Program. Grower assessments, State funding and Federal in-kind services provide the funding necessary to implement the Eradication Program which began in the Red River Valley and stretched into Northeast Louisiana two years later.

The Louisiana State Soil and Water Conservation Committee (SWCC) was created by the State Legislature in l938 under Act 370 to develop the LA conservation district program and to establish operational policy, and provide general regulatory oversight of the conservation district program.

The Office of Forestry Enforcement Division is responsible for the protection of life and property throughout forested areas of the state. Officers enforce forestry related crimes including but not limited to arson, timber theft, forestry equipment theft and vandalism as well as offenses against departmental employees and property.
 
Formosan Hurricane Debris Quarantine Agricultural & Environmental Sciences - Pesticide and Environmental Programs
The Department of Agriculture and Forestry has quarantines in place to prevent the spread of Formosan termites during debris clean up and removal. Parishes included in the quarantines are: Calcasieu, Cameron, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington.

The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry under the direction of the Formosan Termite Task Force launched an extensive tree treatment program in Greater New Orleans and Lake Charles to stop the invasion of the Formosan subterranean termite.

Grain Inspection and Grading Agro-Consumer Services - Agricultural Commodities Commission
The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) is an official service provider licensed by the federal government to sample and grade grains grown in Louisiana. LDAF inspectors are required to grade and sample agricultural commodities in accordance with the grain inspection standards established in the United States Grain Standards Act.
 
Horticulture Commission Agricultural & Environmental Sciences - Horticulture and Quarantine Programs
The purpose of the Horticulture Commission is to license and/or permit, and regulate persons engaged in horticultural businesses. The commission licenses individuals, through examination, for the following professions: Landscape Architect, Landscape Contractor, Landscape Irrigation Contractor, Horticulture Services, Arborist, Utility Arborist, Retail Florist, and Wholesale Florist. The commission also permits the occupations of Nursery Stock Dealer and Cut Flower Dealer.
 
Licensing Agro-Consumer Services - Agricultural Commodities Commission
Cotton Merchant license is issued to a person or entity operating a warehouse in which agricultural commodities are stored for the public for a fee. Grain Dealer license is issued to a person who purchases agricultural commodities from farmers or represents farmers in the sale of agricultural commodities. Warehouse license is issued to a person or entity operating a warehouse in which agricultural commodities are stored for the public for a fee.
 
Livestock Brand Commission Animal Health Services - Livestock Brand Commission
Livestock Brand Commission personnel investigate all agricultural crime in Louisiana including livestock thefts (cattle, equine, hogs, emus, ostriches, turtles, sheep, and exotics), farm machinery and equipment; maintain brand records, publishes a book of brands every 5 years; and compiles livestock statistical information by procedures approved by the United States Department of Agriculture.
 
Pesticide Programs Agricultural & Environmental Sciences - Pesticide and Environmental Programs
The Advisory Commission on Pesticides serves to protect the interests, health, safety, and welfare of the Louisiana public through rules and regulations pertaining to the proper labeling, sale, distribution, transportation, storage, use and application, and disposal of pesticides within the state.
 
Plant Pest Quarantine Agricultural & Environmental Sciences - Horticulture and Quarantine Programs
Plant pest quarantine programs are administered through the State Entomologist Crop Pests and Diseases Law, the Sweet Potato Law, and Plant Pest Quarantine Regulations. Additionally, we work cooperatively with USDA-APHIS in its various plant pest programs. Every effort is made to utilize the latest scientific data and technology to insure that products certified are in fact free from pests, while minimizing the impact on industry and allowing free trade.
 
Poultry & Egg Animal Health Services - Poultry & Egg Programs
The Poultry and Egg Division is responsible for voluntary grading service on poultry, eggs and certain dairy products, resident grading USDA approved poultry and egg plants, fee grading for poultry and eggs performed by federally licensed state Graders; state grading and certification of poultry and eggs for state institutions and parish schools, collecting assessments, issuing licenses, handling promotions and providing clerical staff for the Louisiana Egg Commission, collecting inspection fees, auditing egg licenses, inspecting retail outlets and enforcing the Louisiana Egg Marketing Act.
 
Seed Certification Agricultural & Environmental Sciences - Seed Programs
The Louisiana Seed Certification Program provides a wide range of services that help our clients in the production, identification, distribution and promotion of certified classes of seed. Program components include verification of planting stock origin, field inspections, laboratory analysis, auditing, official labeling, and approval of certified seed storage, handling and processing facilities.
 
Seed Regulations and Testing Agricultural & Environmental Sciences - Seed Programs
The primary purpose of The Louisiana Seed Law is to protect seedsmen, farmers and individuals from purchasing poor quality or mislabeled seed. The law and regulations set requirements and standards for the sale of seed for planting purposes. Statewide enforcement is accomplished, whereby inspectors of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture & Forestry (LDAF) pull random samples of seed being offered for sale. These samples are sent to the State Seed Testing Laboratory for analysis.

The Structural Pest Control Commission serves to protect the interests, health, safety, and welfare of the Louisiana public through rules and regulations pertaining to structural pest control in the state.

The Veterinary Health Division (State Veterinarian) is responsible for the prevention, control and eradication of diseases in livestock and poultry.
