| Title | 2009 Louisiana House Egg Breakfast | | Release Date | 5/14/2009 | | | | Capital staffers and members of the Louisiana House of Representatives enjoyed an egg omelet and strawberry crepe breakfast on the House Garden Plaza May 13, courtesy of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry and the Louisiana Egg Commission.
The annual event, organized by the Louisiana Egg Commission and co-hosted by the Louisiana poultry, egg, strawberry and dairy industries, drew more than 500 guests.
Volunteers from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry cooked the omelets and crepes assembly-line style underneath a canopy on the House Garden Plaza.
Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain said the egg breakfast promoted a variety of Louisiana agricultural products.
“It’s a great way to bring attention to these important agricultural industries to our lawmakers,” Strain said. “But we couldn’t do that without the help of the LDAF employees who give up their time to make the event a success.”
Strain chatted with a number of legislators on the plaza as hungry legislative staffers filed by with omelets and crepes made with Louisiana eggs and strawberries.
In addition to the Louisiana Egg Commission, the Louisiana Strawberry Marketing Board and Louisiana Dairy Industry Promotion Board provided the commodities used at the breakfast.
Strain said a similar egg breakfast will be served on the Senate Garden Plaza May 19.
