The Louisiana State Animal Response Team (LSART) will offer a disaster preparedness training seminar on the subject of emergency sheltering of household pets on June 28 at the Ouachita Parish Fireman’s Training Center, 1000 New Natchitoches Road, West Monroe.

The training session is from 1 p.m. through 4 p.m.

Anyone interested in volunteering to help care for evacuated pets during a declared disaster should take advantage of this free training seminar.

Training topics include:
   Emergency Sheltering of Household Pets: LSART Shelter Training
   Protocols for opening, operating and closing a pet evacuation shelter
   Registration of pets and expectations of pet owners
   Supplies, documents, forms needed for shelter operations
   Personnel and facility requirements
   Safety and security  

Class notes and refreshments will be provided compliments of LSART.

Participants will receive “All-Disaster Planning” LSART certification.
