Animal Evacuation Information Center

As required in Act No. 615 of the 2006 Regular Session, it is requested that parishes submit an evacuation plan for pets in the parish.

This act names the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) as the repository for the plans that the act requires you to submit on an annual basis.

This act also requires that Animal Shelters, Humane Societies, Veterinary Offices, Boarding Kennels, Breeders, Grooming Facilities, Hospitals, Nursing Hospitals and other Assisted Living Facilities, Schools, Animal Testing Facilities and any other businesses or not-for-profit agencies file a plan with your parish office of homeland security and emergency preparedness. Your plans are required to be filed annually with our office as well as your local office of emergency preparedness.

If you need assistance in preparing your plan, call the Louisiana State Animal Response Team (LSART) to set an appointment. Please visit their web site at www.lsart.org.
