Marketing - Farm Youth Loan Program

The Farm Youth Loan Program is authorized under Revised Statutes 3:541-550 and is available for the purpose of raising, growing, and selling of livestock, poultry, eggs, or agronomic, horticultural, silvacultural, or aquacultural crops. 

The applicant must be a resident between ten (10) and twenty (20) years of age and a member in good standing of any qualified 4-H or Future Farmers of America (FFA), Family, Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) or any other farm youth organization functioning within the state school system. Loans shall not exceed a maximum of $3,000 and maximum term of five (5) years. The project and the student must receive a favorable recommendation from the 4-H, FFA or FCCLA sponsor and have parental consent before it will be approved for funding. Parental endorsement is required on the note in order to minimize loan losses and to ensure parental support for the project. 

Individuals interested in applying for a Farm Youth Loan must complete an application and W-9 form. The completed forms should be submitted to Louisiana State Market Commission, P. O. Box 3334, Baton Rouge, LA 70821 or personally delivered to the office. 

Rules and regulations governing the administration of the Farm Youth Loan Program have been promulgated in accordance with the Administrative Procedures Act and can be found in Title 7, Part V, Chapter 15.
